World of Warcraft – Rift – MMO

Strange Times

The malaise attitude about WoW is slowly tightening its grip on the WoW blogging community. There are plenty of us out there who love the game yet we struggle to find anything new that excites us about the game. As a WoW blogger it is a tough spot to be in.

To make things even more difficult, Rift has launched and is in full swing. Throughout the blogosphere you can’t help but to bump into WoW bloggers playing the game and making comparisons between the two. Some are excited and some are under whelmed, this is the nature of the MMO world.

Playing Rift as a WoW blogger puts me in a strange place. It is kind of like going to the dance with your steady and spending the night talking about the new girl in school. No matter how you slice it, someone is going to be uncomfortable. I have a feeling my small but loyal group of readers is going to be uncomfortable.

Nearly all of my writing here is directly related to what is happening to me in-game. With all of my gaming time spent in WoW, naturally GTFOOTF became a WoW blog. Now that I am spending the majority of my time playing Rift, writing about WoW is getting more and more difficult. Knowing that I have not abandon WoW, I am hesitant to declare GTFOOTF all things Rift.

I guess I should consider myself lucky that I chose a blog title and domain name that is game neutral. Things would really be a mess if I had went with a WoW only related name.

I know I want to continue writing about the things that have an influence on me as I play. I also know that any sane human can only stomach so many WoW/Rift comparison posts. Balancing the posts between the two games might be more than I can handle but for now I see no other alternative.

To my loyal readers I say thank you for hanging in there. I am aware the ride has been a bit bumpy at times. As I find some sense of direction, you will start to see posts entirely dedicated to each game. Yes that means there will be days of Rift only ranting. I know that this will cost me readers and if this is too much and you decided to stop visiting I understand completely. Before any of that happens just let me once again say thank you for reading.
