Believe it or not I have had a slew of pre-written articles rendered useless because of patch 1.3. Actually all of the unpublished articles I have written in the last couple of weeks ,, were flushed because of the patch. It sucks because there were some decent ones in the stack and now I can’t use them.
The patch brought with it various issues that have had an affect on the blog. The most obvious is the Chlormancer changes. Not so noticeable have been the shard and guild changes forced by the patch. Both of the latter points have had the bulk of my attention and the blog has suffered because of it.
On the guild front, I mentioned that our raid leader showed his true colors and pulled a ninja transfer and tried to destroy the guild at the same time. He took a few members along with him as well as our guild materials. He tried to destroy our core, it didn’t happen. Yes the guy is a real winner and you can find him on the Silkwood shard. Just look for Virge – Vya – Sandi or Hexus, those are all his toons. Tell him Black Sunshine says hello.
On the shard front, patch 1.3 killed our home shard. As I look back it looks as if this was by design and not an accident. Kelpmere along with 18 other shards were affected in a major way. In fact 19 shards disappeared from the list over last weekend. At one point on Friday evening, there were only 13 level 50′s to be found on our old home shard.
We spent the bulk of Friday evening hunting a new acceptable home for the guild. A number of guild members participated in the hunt and this made things a lot easier. We actually leveled up toons to level 6 so we could get to Meridian and interact with the current player base on the shard. We also investigated the economy, raid progression and activity of each of the shards.
So far so good right? I wish it was so. We moved to a real medium population server and over night it became a high population/full server. Saturday night sucked to be sure. Welcome to our new home, 30+ minute que times and Meridian lag. It seems that the things that made the shard look favorable to us, also looked favorable to others.
One of the things that made us lean toward Alsbeth was the positive interaction Razor had when we were doing shard recon. When he asked questions in general chat, he was answered and no trolls attacked him. The people were helpful and friendly, exactly what we were looking for.
Coincidently once we transferred over, Razor had the opportunity to answer questions for another person doing the same thing he had just done. After espousing the good virtues of the shard, he convinced the new guy that Alsbeth was a good place to be. Only then did the new guy mention he was bringing a 600 player guild with him. Thanks for the que times Razor, thanks for the que times!
