Astonishingly enough I just realized why I enjoy healing as a chloromancer. It is because I actually get to see the majority of most fights. As a healing mage, I don’t have to spend the entire fight staring at health bars. Sure I have to keep an occasional eye on them, but I am not glued to them as before.
Not being tied to the health bars allows me to actually feel like I am participating in the fight. I know that may sound strange and it is a bit difficult to explain, but I believe most healers will understand what I am talking about. Previously as a healer there was a certain disconnect between what I was doing and what was actually happening in the fight. As a chloromancer, that disconnect disappears.
The nice thing about chloromancer healing is that over 95% my healing is generated from my damage and the party member’s damage. As long as my dot/debuffs are up, everyone is healed based on the damage they do. This allows me tremendous freedom during the encounter. Combining that freedom with not being stuck watching health bars has allowed me to become a better player.
Because my eyes are fixed on a small area of the screen, I am more mobile and I have more situational awareness. As a gamer I am more comfortable in my skin. I liken it back to my old first person shooter days. In those days I preferred playing a sniper. My game of choice allowed me to go out past the 1000 meter mark. From that vantage point I could see the whole field. I could also fire and drop opponents at my leisure. If I did my job right, they died before they could hear the shot. I digress.
At this point in the game I feel that I have developed a very solid healing build. If you remember a couple of days ago, I called it my build. After looking around, it turns out that the build I have come up with is close to what some others have settled on as well. This tells me one of two things. Either my logic is really close to what the others is or we are all crazy. Either way, I decided that I would dedicate a page to chloromancer, the way I did with boomkins. I will be publishing that page in the near future.
*ps this is not nor has never been my ui!
