Lowbie Fun

I spent a little bit of time in WoW over the weekend. I managed to get my warrior up to level 31 without much trouble at all. I spent the majority of that time running as DPS but as soon as I hit level 30,1 purchased dual specs and built a tank spec as well.

The majority of that time was in the low level instances. I have done some questing but not as much as I had anticipated. I must say that I am surprised at how quickly I am able to get a group at these low levels. As DPS my average wait time is between 6-9 minutes, if I que as a tank it is almost instant.

With the new tank spec there was additional need for some more heirloom gear. I have been swinging the two handed axe but as a tank I needed the one handed sword. I have a plethora of the heirloom gear but surprisingly I was missing the sword. I have a question, why is there no low level heirloom shield? It would seem that this would be an obvious piece of gear to include with the heirloom stuff but suspiciously it is absent from the line up.

The entire goal of leveling the warrior is to teach myself how to play a melee toon. I probably won’t to do much tanking but I like having the option if the que times get out of hand. Besides that, it has been awhile since I have been in some of these instances and I am not fond of stumbling around as a tank. As far as I am concerned the tank should have some clue about what’s going on so I will run them as DPS when possible.

Right now I am rather pleased with the fact that I am having fun in WoW again. Leveling yet another toon was the last thing I thought would be entertaining. I think one thing that is helping is the fact the when I do quest, I am doing the new quests introduced in Cataclysm. I do have to say that the developers have done a good job with some of these newer quests.

While running the instances I have seen my fair share of FailPlayers. DPS pulling packs, people standing in the fire, you name it they are doing it. The funny thing is, it appears that this is now the “normal” state of play. The “go go GO” players seem to have won the battle. I don’t know, maybe I am the only one who cares. There must be a sever disconnect between lowbie instances and Cataclysm raiding. Cataclysm is hard right?

Speaking of Cataclysm, I am kind of dreading leveling from 80-85. I am not looking forward to leveling in those zones again. Maybe I will try and gain a couple of levels through professions. Is that still possible? I seem to remember at the beginning of Cataclysm people were actually gaining XP through the gathering professions.

Right now it doesn’t matter. It is a long way to level 80 and for now it is nothing I need to be concerned with. For now it is all about lowbie fun.
