Diablo 3 Beta Invite

I am not sure how many Diablo 3 beta invites were handed out this week, but to tell the truth it really doesn’t make a difference. I got one and I am geeked as hell about it. The opportunity to play in the beta will allow me to explore the game and learn all about the genre. My dirty little secret is I have never played any of the previous Diablo offerings.

Diablo 3 Beta Invite

I can almost see some of my reader’s eyes rolling when they hear that a newb (me) managed to get into the beta. There are some die hard Diablo fans out there that are dreaming of a Diablo 3 beta invite. I am sure the fact that I got one will ruffle a few feathers. About all I can say to those die hard Diablo fans, don’t hate the player hate the game.

Okay okay, that may have been a bit over the top but hey I feel like I got lucky. Let me tell you, as it goes in the gaming world, that doesn’t happen to me often. It would be safe for you to assume that I will be taking full advantage of my access to the game. I have been floundering for a direction for this blog and now one has been thrust into my lap. All I can think is “run with it baby, run with it!”

Thinking ahead I realize that I may need to put a bit of thought into how I will approach writing about my experiences in the Diablo 3 beta. There are a few things that I want to address such as game play and both of the auction house options. With no previous Diablo experience I am sure there are other areas that I should focus on but with no frame of reference I may need some help identifying those. That’s where my readers and friends are going to play a huge role.

This is for those of you that visit here everyday (and I am still baffled that you do) what would you like me to write about? What areas of Diablo 3 interest you? What are some of the things I should be paying attention to? Remember the Diablo franchise is all new to me so we have a clean slate here. We can turn this adventure into just about anything we want. Don’t be afraid to pipe up on this one, I really want to know what you want to know.

As you can probably tell I am really excited about the opportunity to participate in the Diablo 3 beta. Invite or no invite, you should benefit too. If you are interested in me writing about Diablo 3 help me discover the topics you want to hear about. If you are pissed that a Diablo newb got an invite, voice that too! I am starting from scratch with this game franchise so the blog is kind of starting anew as well. At this point anything goes, lets make the most of it shall we?

  1. My eyes only started rolling back into my head AFTER I began choking on my tongue. The convulsions are over now, and I can only say…

    You suck!

    Grats man!

  2. razor says:

LOL He would not of even known he had it had I not informed him I got it and he decided to check he is a follower, a mere sheep.

  3. Carson says:

I scored an invite in today’s wave as well, it arrived just in time for me to kick off the download before I had to leave for work this morning. Can’t wait to get home!!

  4. Kauzmo says:

@ Khaas – Glad you survived the initial round of shock!

    @Carson – Grats to you!

  5. KIK says:

I am unable to focus on any specific pleasantries at the moment and will simply leave a previously stated comment:

    “Khaas the Insane: You suck!”

    -KIK-

  6. Scott says:

I want to know about the difficulty. Is it hard enough? Do you feel challenged?

  7. Billy says:

I got an invitation also with todays wave. I am playing on normal and I would say it’s not that challenging yet. I am playing as a wizard and run away from everything, then attack. I have only died once and that was because an enemy blew up after I killed them and killed me. After that I was cautious and haven’t died since. I am level 8 right now, almost level 9 so I haven’t played a whole lot but the game is fun. Very happy to be part of the beta.

I visit here every day (and it would be even better if you post every day, but no pushing you) and I love your style. I am one of those strange people who, just like you, never played any Diablo. I would appreciate your view of a gamer who never played Diablo before. Everybody uses Diablo I and and especially II to compare and describe Diablo III, which is of no use for me. You know how many long WoW players wonder how new player feels about today’s WoW? You have the power to see Diablo III as a new, fresh Diablo player, and thanks to you leet writing skills, to present this impression to us. That’s what I’d like to read from you about Diablo III.

(Achievement get: Post a comment with at least 7 instances of word Diablo.)

  9. Carson says:

Scott – the beta (well, the beta I got into at least) is very small. I guess it’s Act 1, but I don’t think it’s as big as Act 1 in Diablo 2. Maybe it is. Anyway it takes about two hours to get to the end, by which time I was level 8-9 (did it twice), and no, it’s not hard and no you’re not challenged. I assume this is intentional for Act 1, although certainly I found it easier than the earliest stages of D2, I seldom had to pop a health pot or beat a tactical retreat and I am actually yet to die.

  10. Kauzmo says:

@ Billy – Glad to hear from you! Keep the comments coming
@ Umrtvovacz – I will see what I can do about my posting schedule ;) Remember I am also writing over at PandarenMonk.net. Glag to know you are out there!

@Carson – If it is only Act 1 it was one hell of a download o.o!
