Blame Me

I am noticing something strange about my guild members frustration over the shard population skyrocketing. Even though I have only experience a queue twice (both on the same night) there are still complaints. Most of the whining has shifted to server lag and other high population issues.

So what is “strange” about the complaints? The loudest complainers are the least active in the guild, maybe even the game over all. These are low level players who contribute very little to the guild as a whole and to be honest they have only now decided to make there presence know – to complain.

My guess, that the style of play they enjoy the most is now interrupted by the issues I mentioned. The thinking might go something like this, “I only log in twice a week and now I have to wait to get in? This is bullshit, whose bright idea was it to move here?” Or “I never had any issue with NPC’s loading on the other server, now in every major event I can’t see them. This sucks.”

I guess I can understand what they are thinking and I do feel for them. BUT we did not force anyone to transfer with us. Not only that, we made the decision to move as a guild. So the angry whispers of “I don’t pay $15 a month to not play the game, this is fucking bullshit. Why did you move us here?” are starting to wear on me a bit.

Lately when I hear these complaints I feel like saying, “Feel free to leave on Friday, trust me you won’t be missed.” Or “Stop whining about video lag, change shards or get-a better box and STFU already.” Of course I won’t so these things but I am at that point mentally.

Overall the move has been a positive thing. We have managed to pick up where we left off raid wise and member participation is high. On Tuesday we had two groups running Grafting lures and they both sounded to be very successful runs. There was some concern about these runs but those are proving to be unfounded.

I am sure the issues with the server will be resolved in due time. I am also sure we will lose a few impatient members. I can’t say that I blame them. If I only logged into the game one or twice a week, these conditions would overwhelm me as well. I just wish they would be adult about it and realized that they made the choice to press the transfer button, I didn’t do it for them!

By far a positive decision. The move was well researched and coordinated. The alternative? Being forced to move in a panic when the closed the old server.
