Why is character optimization seen by some as being elitist? Why is the expectation of a performance minimum considered elitist? I am fully aware of and support the I play how I want to play theory of MMO gaming but if you are bad, how does that add up to me being an elitist prick?
I have never understood the FailPlayers need to defend poor play and optimization. It has always baffled me how a person could justify, regardless of their performance; that they should get equal consideration for the shinies. I am sorry but that makes no sense to me.
The group just spent 6 minutes killing a nasty and you spent 4.5 minutes of the fight dead. You were dead because you can’t GTFOOTF and yet you really think you should get equal ” consideration for the plunder? Really? So that upgrade, that can go to someone who can manage to stay alive the entire fight and who contributes, should go to you? Why?
Let’s take a less drastic example. How about that player that prefers to heal over DPS? Consistently he is accommodated and yet his performance is severely lacking. Should that player really be given equal consideration in regards to other healers? If so why?
Understand I am not talking about a one time mistake here. In both cases I am talking about a noticeable and continued poor performance. I just do not understand why players of this caliber feel that they are on equal ground with other players. Maybe it is just me and I am the only one in the world who notices these things. Maybe I am an elitist prick after all.
Sure it is difficult work to recognize that you are the only one who is consistently dead during every encounter. I know how hard it must be when you continually ask for parsing data and see that your healing is 3-4 times lower than that of any other healer. Regardless of the fact that you are casting more than anyone else and you are assigned to a tank.
Optimizing your gear according to your soul/role is difficult as well. Finding and using the proper consumables is also really tough. Spending any amount of time learning the encounter is really strenuous work. Oh and that is the magic word isn’t it my friends, work. Heaven forbid you put any effort into your own success, never mind the group.
You should also go ahead and ignore anyone who is pretending to help. Obviously they have no clue of what the soul/role is really capable of and their real motivation is to hurt you not help you. In fact keep doing things your way because they seem to be working just fine. No really. I would never dream of criticizing a FailPlayer of your magnitude. Never!
Believe it or not this post is not aimed at anyone in particular. I just felt that it had been awhile since I had fumed in true GTFOOTF fashion. I am sure that someone out there will read this and be offended. They will even take it personal. If you think it applies to you, it might but how the hell would I know? But if you think this is some subliminal shot (it isn’t) and that I would be afraid to call you out by name, think again. You better get your game up!
